“CHELSEA”
AUGUST 22, 1993 – JULY 16, 2010
Just shy of her 17th birthday, our beloved Chelsea made her journey home
to the Rainbow Bridge on Friday evening.
Our old girl, Chelsea was born outside at this location many years ago.
She has been one of the 'staff' and a faithful companion to all of us for many years.
It has certainly been our good fortune to have her around for as long as we did.
She enjoyed greeting everyone as she sat on her bed by the cash register and loved all the attention she received from customers.
Each evening before closing, Chelsea would make her rounds up and down the aisles
before retiring to her bed.  Her sweet, gentle, and happy temperament made our day!
We believe that she will always be with us, as her spirit lives on
in our hearts and in this store
…forever…
.
Godspeed, Chelsea girl…we love and miss you….

"STAR"
November 2008 – April 9, 2010

Although our sorrow is unbearable, today the Rainbow Bridge welcomed a very happy, spirited young lady.

Star and her mom Luna were dumped in our parking lot.  She was just 6 months old and she was the happiest little girl that lived!

It’s hard for us all to believe that one day she was fine, the next day she was gone.  You see, Star had a heart defect that was not able to be detected. This condition is hereditary and we had no way of knowing that it would affect her so suddenly.

She passed gently and quickly with very little suffering.

Anyone who came to visit the playpen always got greeted by Star and most times included a little ‘love bite’!  Our friends, staff and the family of her furr-babies in the playpen will all miss her terribly.  Say “hello” to Monster and Dusty for us…they’re waiting for you at the Bridge!

We love and miss you, Star-baby.

"DUSTY"
1994-March 25, 2010
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our beautiful beloved Dusty.
Dusty came into our care several years ago as an SPCA case. She and her brothers Karl and Tony had been physically abused by humans and sustained many injuries and scars, both physically and emotionally. Their lives before coming to us were a living nightmare!
Dusty found her ‘sanctuary’ here in Monster’s Play Pen.  It took her several years to adjust to human contact again but she loved the companionship of our other cats.
Dusty’s abuse and neglect gave way to many health issues over the years which ultimately were a causing factor in her passing.
If you see someone abusing an animal, please contact your local SPCA office and report it.
Our playpen cats and our dedicated staff will miss her scowling stares but know she is at peace over the Rainbow Bridge.

On Monday, November 30, 2009 our beloved Olivia went to the wonderful clover field over the rainbow bridge.  She was a feisty girl, with lots of spirit!  We all loved hearing her 'thump' in her cage when she wasn't getting enough attention.  She loved her slices of apple and would hop around her cage with the slice in her mouth before settling down to enjoy her treat.  While she came into our care totally neglected, with mats of hair and long nails, she left us a beautiful, shiny, happy girl.  If Olivia could speak, she would send out a special thanks to Cathy, from Hopsy-Flopsy Bunny rescue for all her help, love and attention.    .... we'll all miss ya tons, Livia!
OLIVIA
"Monster-Man"
1993-October 27, 2009
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our beloved Monster (aka Buddy).  Monster was the inspiration for the creation of the rescue 'playpen' in our store.  Everyone loved the Monster-man.  With his aqua-blue-green eyes and happy personality he was the king of the pen.  His 'girlfriend' Munchkin and he were inseparable.  Together they made a great team.  She will miss her 'boyfriend' as she goes into her golden years alone.  He taught us all how happy life can be with just a few simple pleasures....we will miss you, Monster...

Paulie – “My Loyal Boy”
Left us on May 24, 2009

Paulie was saved by his God Mommy Debbie on August 5, 2004.   God Mommy Debbie brought him back to health and saved his life.   Paulie only had one eye left after his ordeal, but that did not matter to God Mommy Debbie or his new owners Jim and Patti who adopted him on September 16, 2004.

Paulie was about 9 years old when he was saved and adopted; we had a wonderful 5 years with paulie.  He was a wonderful loyal boy and best friend.   He loved car rides and just staying with us all the time, he was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.

Paulie was unique and special in so many ways that is very hard to describe in just a few words; it will be very hard to do simple things without him around to do them with.  We are so lucky that God Mommy Debbie saved him and we adopted him.

God bless Paulie and he is close to our hearts forever.

Jim & Patti

Dear Paulie...
I will miss you terribly. You were so neglected and abused when I first found you. But you were a trooper, brave right up to the end.  You always knew there was something better out there than where you had come from. No more neglect, injury or pain. And then you picked the perfect mom and dad! Thank you, Jim and Patti, for adopting an old dog with 'issues' and challenges.  He was your boy right from the start, I knew it in my heart.

Say hello to my Andre and Amy for me.  I'm sure they were right there at the gate calling your name! You taught me so much about spirit, will and how sometimes you just have to take a chance on a poor, old neglected dog.
Thank you, Paulie, for bringing your mom and dad into my life! You SO DESERVED THEM!
God Speed, Little Paulie...I will miss you...
God Mommy Debbie

Pattie, Jim and Paulie...a happy loving family!
From Your Best Friend

You're giving me a special gift, so sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days,
Your courage makes me proud.

But real love is knowing when your best friend is in pain,
And understanding earthly acts will only be in vain.

So looking deep into your eyes, beyond into your soul,
I see in you the magic that will once more make me whole.

The strength that you possess is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done, for it's the only way.

That strength is why I followed you, and chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved you all these years
...my partner 'til the end

Please understand just what this gift you're giving means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost and all my dignity.

You take a stand on my behalf, for that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right, for I believe it too.

So one last time I breathe your scent and through your hand I feel,
The courage that's within you to grant me this appeal.

And don't despair my passing, I won't be far away,
Forever here within your heart, and memory I will stay.

I'll be there watching over you, your forever faithful friend,
And in your memories I will run,
...a kitten once again.

Our boy, Max, has lost his battle with cancer. Max was fat-boy Tommy's best friend. Thank you so very much, Christine, for adopting Tommy (a.k.a. Rudy) and Max together. He was a gentle, sweet spirit and we can never thank you enough for making his last year of life a wonderful one!
Emma and Simon
The story of Emma and Simon a bittersweet one.  Simon and Emma were housemates for 16 years.  They came into the family separately, but as time went on, it was clear that "Si and Em' had a very special bond that was unbreakable.  They were always together.  Always by each other side through thick and thin! Simon got ill first.  He was diagnosed with liver cancer In 2008.  When Simon didn't feel good, Emma would curl up around him and keep him safe and warm, soothing his pain with her gentle purring.  Shortly after Simon passed away, Emma became ill.  A trip to the vets showed that she was in renal failure.  A matter of weeks later, and Emma was on her way to the Bridge, where Simon was waiting for her to arrive.  It was quite clear that she just had to be with him, but stayed strong for him while he was alive.  The heartache seemed unbearable, but then the peace came in knowing that Simon and Emma were together, forever.
Godspeed, my two angels....Mommy loves you both very much...

Simon, the day before he lost his battle to liver cancer
